Come and share your career story with current Owenians...
We are now inviting past Owenians who would like to participate in the 11th Owen's Alumni Careers Talks event to register their interest.
Talks will take place on:
Monday 7th -14th March 2022
(Mon, Wed, Fri & Mon)
Held in conjunction with National Careers Week, this is a really important event in our student's school life and we hugely value past Owenians' contributions, especially in the current climate where our young people need to consider a range of advice before making decisions about their future.
How our career talks operate:
Each day, we hold four lunchtime talks preceded by a sandwich lunch provided for speakers from 12 noon in our dining room.
12.30pm- Exit dining room and proceed to classrooms where talks will take place.
12.45pm- Sessions begin (talks should be 20 mins max - with time for Q&A's afterwards)
1.30pm - Sessions finish and you will be offered the opportunity to tour the school site.
Who attends the talks?
Students from Years 9-13, who are thinking about GCSE and A Level options, applications to University and wider career choices will be in attendance.
What should talks include?
Sharing your career path will inspire students and personal stories of how you got to where you are will help put your career in context. We suggest you might also explain what you do in your current role to give attendees the opportunity to put themselves in your shoes, including any challenges you may have faced.
Where do you sign up?
Owen's Head of Careers, Abigail Stein, will be waiting to receive emails from interested parties at:
steina@damealiceowens.herts.sch.uk
by Monday 31st January 2022
Please provide bullet point details of your current employment, an outline of what your talk would cover, your year of leaving, and the day/s you would be available (see above)
Also, please let us know what IT facilities you may need.
